A working ranch in the high country
Diamond Dawn 214 Ranch is a small place in La Jara, Colorado — raising Colorado Mountain Dogs, Dexter cattle, and living close to the land.
How we ranch
Close to the land
We farm and raise animals the way a place like this asks you to: respect the soil, keep animals on pasture when we can, and avoid practices that trade long-term health for short-term ease.
On the place
Life on the place
Alongside our Mountain Dogs and Dexters, the ranch also keeps chickens, ducks, and turkeys, and we grow vegetables when the season allows. Those animals and gardens are part of how we live here — not a catalog of things for sale.
Dogs that earn their keep
When we breed Colorado Mountain Dogs, we look for buyers who understand livestock dogs — ranchers, working people, and families who want a tough, loyal partner. Our current litter is the main focus of this site.

Dexter cattle are our long game: milk, meat, and genetics for a herd that fits a small ranch. Inquire if you want to stay in touch about future availability.
